Amazing Minneapolis Apartments

Three Great Minneapolis Apartments - Better with Family (www.betterwithfamily.com)

As of late, I’ve been doing a TON of research online about Minneapolis apartments as I begin my trek to Minneapolis from New York City. And along the way, I’ve learned many things about Minneapolis real estate but one thing has really stood out: people in Minneapolis have a lot of style.

Granted, I’m originally from Minnesota so I knew that many of the stereotypes that seem to cling to Minnesotans are not true, but I still wasn’t prepared to see so many New York-like apartments that are decorated so… trendy.

Three apartments in particular have really stuck out to me. Although I have no intention of moving into these spaces (although it would be AMAZING to do so), I think each of these spaces has a really unique personality. I’m hoping I can take ideas from all three of them and create my own retreat.

So here goes.

Casey’s Minneapolis Bachelor Pad Apartment

I found this apartment on Apartment Therapy (one of my new addictions as of late) and instantly fell in love. I think it’s the mix of masculinity and romance that really make this apartment work for me. There are a lot of deep colors that get complimented by different metals and very contemporary furniture.

Madelynn’s Natural Minneapolis Apartment

I love Madelynn’s apartment because of its natural feel. I imagine walking through the door and instantly feeling very refreshed, safe, and happy. From the white walls to the giant fur rug, everything seems like it was picked out with love. I also give Madelynn huge props for making those kitchen cupboards look like a natural extension of everything else in the apartment. I usually write apartments off that have those cupboards because they look outdated to me, but Madelynn really makes them work.

Colleen and Sam’s Minneapolis Home

Minneapolis Home Renovation - Better with Family (www.betterwithfamily.com)

Although not an apartment, Colleen and Sam’s home renovation really spoke to me. I’ve been reading home renovation blogs for a few years now and they make me want to go buy a fixer-upper right meow and overhaul it. There’s something very gratifying about taking a structure that basically has no guts and making it into something that’s completely yours. And that’s exactly what Colleen and Sam did, and it just shouts “I’m a Minneapolis house!” I think they did a perfect job pairing the old with the new. There’s something to be said for all of those details in the wood and the craftsmanship that went into making it (and renovating it, for that matter).

So this is that obligatory first post almost everyone does when they start a blog, right? You know, the one that gets them motivated and hopefully allows them to spill all of their feelings out to decide how to proceed. We’ll see how this goes.

I’ve blogged in the past, albeit not very consistently and without a unified theme. I was introduced to blogging in college, where I was required to do it for a few classes. Eventually, the idea around blogging caught on with me and I loved doing it. But still, I couldn’t find those one or two things that I thought I could consistently, week after week, month after month, write about without sounding like a broken record.

I’m hoping Better with Family will be the answer to that problem. When I started thinking about themes and topics for this blog, I think I wrote down about 50 different ones. Some were topics about one specific thing that I knew I couldn’t write much about but the others turned out to be the inspiration for writing today.

On this blog (or site, however you want to think about it), I will be chronicling my life as a 20-something and learning to live a life on my own terms. I’ve picked five large themes to focus on: food, life events, photography, home décor, and graphics.

These five themes seem to be what matter most to me. But with a twist, they’re also things that I think are important for everyone to share with their “family,” whatever that word might mean to you. To me, “family” encompasses everyone in my life who matters most—from my mom and dad to my best friends from college. I encourage you to share these events (and your own) with your family, whomever those people might be.

So thanks for reading. I’m not sure what this road looks like even six months from now but I’m excited to find out. Welcome to my family. I hope you enjoy the journey with me.
